A few years ago, I posted a job opening on LinkedIn.
The response was overwhelming. I received 1000+ applications.
However, when I reviewed the applications i found out:
– Majority didn’t read the job description. They applied without considering if they were a fit for the role.
– Only 16 candidates tackled the additional questions. This was a crucial step in understanding if they had paid attention.
– Just one of them answered those questions competently. This individual stood out by demonstrating genuine interest and capability.
This experience reminded me of a vital lesson: Quality over quantity.
It’s essential for candidates to thoroughly understand the job they’re applying for and to put in the effort to demonstrate their suitability.
When you are competing with thousands of candidates, attention to detail and a genuine interest in the role can make all the difference with the recruiter.
