‘Diversity and inclusion’ as a term is often overused in JDs and on social media.
Here’s the time to look back and question- is your organisation really an inclusive workplace?
It’s time to shake things up in your diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) playbook with these 3 strategies that work like magic!
✅Include everyone: This might sound very basic in an inclusivity discussion but despite strides in DEI, some employees still feel like outsiders, suppressing their uniqueness. This negative experience hampers focus and performance. Strive for a culture that values individuality, providing routine check-ins, support, and trust. The workplace should be a space where everyone’s authenticity is noticed and cherished, not a restrictive “one size fits all.”
✅Communication: 7 out of 10 employees feel uninformed about daily opportunities to promote inclusion. Make DEI everyone’s responsibility. Encourage valuing each person’s contributions, advocating for diverse voices, and investing in colleagues’ growth. Incorporate employee input into organisational values, emphasising their meaningful role in building an inclusive workplace.
✅Rewards and care: Promote diversity in succession planning and celebrate underrepresented groups through initiatives like Women’s History Month. Research indicates that such benefits can increase feelings of inclusion by up to 38%.
How is your organisation actively fostering a sense of belonging today?
P.S: Diversity without inclusion is meaningless. It’s time to move beyond surface-level initiatives and create environments where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
