Is your HR team fighting for employees or simply executing management’s orders?

Many HR Heads tend to function more as an arm of management rather than genuine advocates for employees.

Unfortunately, it’s a reality we cannot ignore.

However, I do not condone the idea that HR should merely be a stooge of management.

The moment an HR leader begins to assert their own voice and offer authentic opinions, they often face repercussions and have to prepare for a countdown in their role.

But this should not be the case.

What deeply concerns me, is seeing HR leaders—especially those with the financial stability to be bold—continuing to play it safe.

Instead of standing up for employees or speaking up for what’s right, they conform. I do not accept this behaviour.

It is not just a disservice to their team but a betrayal of their responsibilities as leaders.

It’s crucial to remember that HR’s role isn’t to side with one party over another.

HR’s job is to balance all the parties.

There are people who do it, and it’s a win-win situation.

HR should be a force for positive change, building trust and fostering a sustainable culture.

As Zig Ziglar said it: “You don’t build a business, you build people and then people build the business.”

We must rise above complacency and be willing to use our voice for the betterment of employees and the organization as a whole.
